I truly, madly, deeply want an e46 ZHP, 6MT sedan to be specific. The newest ones are now 11 years old, and guaranteed to be at least a small headache. I found this rather cheap example today.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Classic CL ad format. The want is still unreasonably strong.

I really wanted an E39 M5, pretty much my idea of an almost perfect car. However when I started shopping for them in late 2013 early 2014, this time with the means to buy and maintain one, I realized they’d all be at least 10 years old and unless you want to spend a boat load, all close to 100k miles. While I could afford expensive repairs, I figured I’d rather have a newer more car with less issues. That’s why I got the E90 M3, you thought about something like a 328i with a stick? Yeah the E46 is cooler, but the E90 should be a lot easier to live with.

This might come off as blasphemy from a bimmer fanboy, but the I have never cared for the e9x. I would prefer to jump to F30 if that were the case. Though the e9x is a great car in its own right.

I wasn’t a fan of the E90 when they came out, just kinda like I’m not really a fan of the F30, don’t really like the electric steering. I had a 320i with a stick as a loner once and it was just meh, had a 228i as well and didn’t like it as much as the 128i.

How often do you see a ZHP with non-xenon headlights? I’m wondering if this is a 330i with aftermarket bumpers. Either way, that seems like a lot of problems waiting to happen at over 200k miles.

Damn, pretty cheap, but bmw parts are $$$. Also, my 22 year old wagon has 276k on the clock., this thing is almost there and only half as old!

My thoughts exactly. If there were a shot of the gauge cluster I could get a better idea of it being a real ZHP, but as usual for CL, 4 terrible photos.

Once Dieselgate is finally over with, I will be buying a ZHP. I will hold out for a 4dr 6spd option with the cold weather package :)

I have a 330 and it doesn’t have xenons. I actually prefer it that way, the ballasts are known to go out on E46s and they’re expeeennssive

You caught me. I'll always be a 90's kid.

Not gonna lie, I starting humming it as soon as I read that line.
Also, compulsory due to you saying 90's kid:

I thought that was with the ZKW headlights? Also it just seems odd when the ZHP was the most expensive E46 sedan you could buy, and they didn’t get the xenons.

Might be for both. Then again...it’s German...everything is expensive. I just found out my oil pan has a really small gasket leak. 2,000 quoted from dealer. I don’t see me taking it to the dealer.

Haha. Well born in late 80's so I grew up in the 90's I guess. I'm not far from 30 so its all ancient history now.

You sure it’s not the oil filter housing gasket? my local dealer quoted me $1,000 to replace the oil pan gasket, which with my current leak I might take them up on, seeing as you have to basically take everything off the damn engine to do it.

Mine is AWD. You have to take the drive shaft off because the drive shaft goes through the oil pan. It’s kinda smart.

Wow. Excellent choice. I really like the m5 wheels on that one. If I could, I'd have a stable of old bimmers and one of these would be in it.

That’s an expensive stable of maintenance.
Worth it though.

I didn’t even think about it when I bought the car. It was too good of a deal to pass up. I don’t even live where it snows a lot, lol

I just hit 200k on my ZHP yesterday. In 2 weeks it gets a new rear main seal, flywheel and clutch in prep for 2 days at Watkins Glen on my birthday.

That's good to hear. It seems like they are fairly robust cars and can last when cared for.
